The doctor just came out to tell Dan and the family that Robin is out of surgery. Her diagnosis has changed. It was originally thought that she had vaginal cancer ~ they've changed the diagnosis to ovarian cancer. The ovarian cancer has metastasized into a tumor in the vagina. They removed that tumor in surgery and also tumors in her ovaries. There are remaining tumors in her ovaries that they will treat with chemo to shrink. She is in stage 3, possibly stage 4. Dan is optimistic about the new diagnosis. According to him, the vaginal cancer diagnosis was not a good one and was harder to fight. The ovarian cancer should respond better to treatment.
Robin should be in the hospital 3 to 4 days and then recovering at her mother, Gloria's home. Chemo will start in two weeks.
On another note, the Bible chicks (robin's group) are coordinating a meal schedule to Gloria's while Robin recuperates. Look for a future post with contact information if you'd like to volunteer.

I'm happy to hear that Dan is more hopeful with the news. I will keep Robin and all of you in my prayers. I will pray for a quick recovery from surgery and that the Lord keeps Robin strong during the upcoming treatments.
Love,Tonya
